In 1998 Ron and Toni Waeghe were searching for the perfect location for a second home. The couple found Reynolds Plantation on the internet, and when Toni was attending a seminar in Atlanta for AT&T, Ron went out and personally investigated all the golf communities. That same weekend Ron showed Toni all that he had visited including a few communities in Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, SC and decided that Reynolds Plantation was “head and shoulders” above all the rest. After one round of golf and one day on property, Ron and Toni purchased a lot on Planter’s Lane.
After purchasing property, Ron & Toni spent four years vacationing at Reynolds Plantation. They planned trips to the community 3 times a year when they could enjoy golf, boating and the serene surroundings. During this time, they decided to build on their lot and completed their beautiful home in April of 2001. The permanent move to Reynolds Plantation was their 17th move in a long line of relocations around the world – but it is one that the Waeghes are very glad they made.

Before retiring, Ron was in charge of worldwide sales for a high-tech company in Boston and traveled 3-4 days per week with many business flights. Reynolds Plantation offered Ron easy access to and from the Atlanta-Hartsfield Jackson International Airport for which he is grateful. Now, Ron thoroughly enjoys playing golf (he carries a zero handicap), and plays five days a week!
Toni retired from AT&T and is involved in the local community. Toni plays golf with the Women’s Golf Association Saturday League, is involved with Neighbors and Newcomers (a local organization that allows individuals to meet others in the Lake Oconee community), Plantation Ladies Club and the Family Selection Committee for Habitat for Humanity. Toni also enjoys stencil, creweling (embroidery with yarn), gardening and racing Ron on their high-powered Seadoos.
As a couple, the Waeghes enjoy attending member events (trivia night is a favorite!) as well as the outdoor concerts at the Plantation Pavilion and Great Waters. Traveling is another pastime for Ron and Toni, most recently visiting Italy in October 2004.
Ron and Toni Waeghe have been married for over 30 years and have four children and six grandchildren. The Waeghes also have two Toy Schnauzers – Midget and Princess. In 2009, the Waeghes moved into their second home at Reynolds Plantation, on Centennial Post.
